Red Sea Flora Base Aquarium Plant Substrate 12lbs (5.4kg) Florabase is a patented scientifically formulated substrate produced from natural volcanic ash-based soil, sintered with other minerals into a soft, porous, granular structure. It contains all the nutrients required by plants for proper development, guaranteeing ideal (natural) conditions for lasting plant growth. Allows plant roots to positively anchor and the porous structure allows the slow release of nutrients for at least the first six months. An excellent filter medium if undergravel filters are used and is also a pH buffer maintaining a pH between 6.5 and 7.0 ideal for aquatic plants and most fish that thrive in a planted aquarium. Should not be used for fish that require a higher pH (African Cichlids as an instance). Each bag of 5.4kg (12lbs) will provide enough substrate for a 45 litre aquarium (approx 30cms x 30cms base area). Florabase should not be rinsed before use or mixed with other gravels.
